Specialist Translations

Traduco Srl offers specialist translation services in all areas and all language pairs.

What is a specialist translation?

A specialist translation is one whose source text addresses a particular subject or belongs to a specific field of application: technical, commercial and accounting, legal, financial, medical/scientific, marketing, tourism, history, art, literature etc. Each field has its own terminology and its own particular style, which means it’s essential to take into account aspects such as register, “jargon” and the reader to whom the translation is targeted.

Types of translation

“Best Quality” translations are highly-technical texts entrusted to translators who are native speakers of the target language and hold university qualifications (a bachelor’s or master’s degree) in their area of specialization.
These texts are usually of a highly financial or administrative nature (articles of association, balance sheets, notes to annual reports), and are translated by native speakers with a degree in economics or similar. In similar fashion, engineering texts are assigned to native speakers with a degree in engineering, legal texts to native speakers with a degree in law, and so on.

A Best Quality translation includes:

  • Translation of the text by a native speaker holding a bachelor’s or master’s degree in the field, using certified glossaries.
  • Preliminary revision by the translator
  • Full revision of the text by the personnel of Traduco Srl
  • Full spellcheck by the personnel of Traduco Srl
  • Quality control
  • Review of terminological and stylistic coherence

“Level 1” translation designates the translation of catalogues, manuals, websites, newsletters, magazine articles – in short, texts intended for publication or broadcast and requiring translation by a native speaker of the target language. Our Project Managers closely supervise these jobs in the negotiation and translation phases. Every job is then checked a second time by our in-house translators and reviewers before it is delivered to the client.

A Level 1 translation includes:

  • Translation of the text by a native speaker with extensive experience of translation in the field in question.
  • Preliminary revision by the translator
  • Full revision of the text by the personnel of Traduco Srl
  • Full spellcheck by the personnel of Traduco Srl
  • Quality control
  • Review of terminological and stylistic coherence

“Level 2” translation designates a translation which is correct in its grammar, style, register and specific terminology. The text is translated by an Italian native speaker with a master’s degree in translation, with input from a specialist in the field where necessary.

A Level 2 translation includes:

  • Translation of the text by our in-house translators
  • Revision by our in-house reviewer (not the translator), selected in accordance with the language pair
  • Full spellcheck by the personnel of Traduco Srl
  • Quality control
  • Terminology check
